The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) provides grants of up to $50,000 to agricultural producers and small businesses located in rural areas – areas with population of 50,000 or less, for energy audits, renewable energy development, and feasibility studies for renewable energy systems.
Eligible recipients include the following
• rural small businesses
• agricultural producers who gain 50 percent or more of their gross income from the agricultural operations
• small businesses that are located in a rural area
• rural electric cooperatives
Eligible projects are those that produce energy from wind, ocean, solar, biomass, geothermal, hydro electric and hydrogen-based sources. The energy produced includes heat, electricity, or fuel.
