The Office of Intellectual Property Rights Assistance provides counseling, special programs, and tools to help U.S. companies protect their intellectual property—including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets—in foreign markets.
U.S. businesses and citizens can gain the access to the tools and information they need to better protect and enforce their Intellectual Property Rights in foreign markets.
The Office of Intellectual Property Rights (OIPR) helps U.S. businesses and citizens protect their Intellectual Property Rights abroad. The OIPR provides counseling, special programs, and other tools to help U.S. companies to protect patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets in foreign markets. OIPR experts can suggest strategies to evaluate IPR problems encountered abroad and will work with U.S. Embassies around the world to pursue a course of action for resolution of IPR-related market access barriers. In many cases, OIPR can provide companies with information to aid in navigating a foreign government's legal system. In addition, the OIPR supports the protection of intellectual property rights in U.S. trade negotiations. For more information, please visit http://www.stopfakes.gov.
