Export and Trade Counseling Resources
Welcome to the Export and Trade Counseling Resources web page, created in partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service of the Department of Commerce, the Small Business Administration, and the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC). This page is designed specifically for small business counselors. You play a vital role in the National Export Initiative and its goal of doubling U.S. exports and supporting millions of jobs.
The close relationship that you have with your clients uniquely positions you to impact the global perspective and foreign market engagement of U.S. small businesses. It is crucial that more small businesses embrace opportunities for growth through exports. We recognize and greatly appreciate your contributions to our communities and our Nation.
On the left you will find links to Introductory and Intermediate level training resources. The Introductory Level section is designed for small business counselors who are new to export assistance, focusing on how you can be an essential part of the national exporter referral process and giving you a brief refresher on the basics of federal government support for small business exporters.
The Intermediate Level provides links to more in-depth webinars on key international trade topics that will be useful for small business counselors working with clients who are ready to export, or existing exporters seeking to expand or strengthen their international trade business. Intermediate training gives you the tools to help your clients develop actionable and effective export business plans.
More specifics about the federal government’s broad array of international trade resources, and how you fit into this service delivery system can be found in the Administration’s Export Promotion Cabinet December 2012 Interagency Communique.
If you are an SBA or TPCC affiliated small business counselor (such as a counselor with an SBDC, WBC, SCORE, USEAC, MBDA, MEP or similar federal resource partner), visit the Counselor Certification section to take the online competency exam at either the Introductory or Intermediate level.
