This year’s theme is “The Time Is NOW!” and we are excited to host this conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at both the African American Museum of Iowa and the DoubleTree by Hilton. Our mission is "To unleash the full potential of Iowa's Black Business owners and lay the foundation for their continued success and contributions to the economic vitality of our communities, cities and state." IBBS was formed in 2009 to address the economic disparities between businesses of color and those owned by Iowa’s majority. This summit was designed to create a support network regardless of the length of time in business. The goal for the 2014 Iowa Black Business Summit is to provide continued support to aspiring and current business owners in our communities throughout the state of Iowa with education, networking and testimonials. The Summit will create an atmosphere that fosters unity, camaraderie and collaboration. Iowa will be a premier state where businesses of color are an integral part of the economic development strategy. Thursday is opening night! You will have the opportunity to network with Black professionals while treating your taste buds with the Soul Food of Iowa. Friday, we have designed tracts for each phase of business that will focus on their specific development. We have industry leaders from across the state joining us to speak on their experience in Iowa, how they overcame and continue to overcome adversity and to teach transferable skills for aspiring and current business owners.
