<p>Our Chapter has developed a number of low cost and free seminars which are typically offered on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11:30 AM.  Typical attendance is between 10 and 20 attendees.  Attendees, the instructors and other SCORE volunteer counselors interact throughout the presentations often providing welcome insight into solutions of common problems  Attendance also lead to useful networking between attendees.</p>

<p>This is a 25-hour business start-up course for entrepreneurs that want to start a new business but don’t know where to begin. It is an indispensable part of any entrepreneurial endeavor as it allows one to “make mistakes on paper” rather than in the real world. Participants can also take advantage of our free business counseling services in order to help them complete their business plan, receive the proper licenses and permits, and apply for start up business loans.</p>

<p>A 60-hour course in business planning. The following topics are covered in depth: your customer, competition, marketing, record keeping, taxes, financing, legal aspects, and more. At the end of the class, you will have a completed business plan. There are also 3 monthly follow-up networking sessions at the completion of the class. Class size is limited to 15. You must complete an application, come to the orientation, have an individual interview, and be accepted into the class.</p> <p>This course qualifies for 3 Pass/Fail credits from the University of Maine at Augusta upon approval of your completed business plan and payment of a small processing fee. New VenturesTM is pre-approved for unemployment insurance recipients.</p> <p>Applications are due Friday, September 13.
