India is a leading mineral producer globally endowed with a resource base of several major minerals like coal, iron ore, bauxite and other minerals. The CII, which is India's premier business chamber, organizes the biennial International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME), the nation's flagship mining industry trade fair, which is also the largest in this sector. The 2012 exhibition was spread over 40,000 sq. meters of space, and had over 220 exhibitors from seven countries and attracted more than 9,000 business visitors. The show is also renowned for its two day global mining summit. This event is a direct competitor of IME, which is held in January in even years. The three-day show is scheduled for November 2014 in Kolkata.
