The Inventor's Assistance Program (IAP) engages in a range of educational and outreach services to help inventors in understanding the value of protecting their intellectual property and how to navigate the patent process. IAP provides outreach, support and education to independent inventors through various means. U.S. PTO-sponsored events are planned for inventors and small business concerns that provide information about patents and trademarks for the novice and seasoned inventor. Through the dissemination of information via the U.S. PTO website, educational outreach seminars, web casts, electronic newsletter, computer based training modules and toll-free numbers, and the Inventors Assistance Center, the IAP provides a public awareness of intellectual property and the impact on the global economy. The goal is to educate the public about intellectual property and raise the awareness about protecting their innovations.
